Kaspersky AntiVirus is the Best

Over the last few months I’ve been experimenting with various Anti-Virus software.  I’ve tried Avast Antivirus, Symantec Norton, Trend Micro, and a few others.  Although I have traditionally been a fan of Symantec, since that is what we used on the DOD, I’ve recently changed my first choice.

Not only was Kaspersky able to find problems that other programs completely overlooked, it also has a much smaller footprint than the competition.  “Footprint” is terminology for how much resources the program consumes.   For example, Symantec consumes a good amount of system resources, slowing down overall operatoins.  Kaspersky, on the other hand, is light, almost unnoticable.

Kaspersky isn’t free, it ranges from $60 dollars, and up. Actually I am strongly against free anti-virus programs, your antivirus suite is the one peace of software you should pay for.  In any case, it is well worth the investment.  It is easy to use for a novice user, but has a lot of advanced features for advances users.

You don’t have to commit right away, they do offer a free demo on the site, and it doesn’t hurt to try.

And if you do decide to buy it, here is a link to 10% off Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. Enjoy.
